The edges are bound in a traditional quilt
fashion, with a cotton fern print. Interior
batting is 80% cotton/20% poly. Finished
with a hanging sleeve for a decorative rod.

Flame Dance

Digital Media: The digital design was
created using Photoshop, then printed onto
100% cotton fabric. The three borders are
cotton, and bound with organza ribbon.
Instead of traditional soft batting, I used a
thick, very firm stabilizer.
The topstitching is done with a
combination of variegated color cotton
thread, and variegated color shiny rayon
embroidery thread. Finished with a hanging
sleeve for a decorative rod.

| Peace Takes Flight 36" x 72" 91.44 cm x 1.83 m Mixed Media: the pieced background is constructed of cotton print, flannel and hand-dyed fabrics, decoratively quilted, and mounted on a stretched canvas frame. The sky is constructed of hand-dyed fabric woven between wood flashing. The "clouds" are decoratively woven rayon sheers. There are 34 Origami peace cranes, in three different sizes ranging from large at the base to small at the sky, made from cotton batik fabrics. The cranes are individually strung and attached to guide wires. The Stretched Canvas wall-hanging component of this piece is 36" x 60" (91.44 cm x 1.524 m). The "roof" of the sky extends 12" (30.48 cm) higher. The "sky" extends 24" (60.96 cm) out from the wall. It is recommended that this piece is hung so that the upper front edge is 8' (2.44 m) above the floor.
